To continue patching ESX 3.5 hosts, patch ESX350-201012410-BG needs to be applied before June 1, 2011. This patch updates the secure key.

Microsoft heeft voor elk Windows OS en Service Pack level een andere versie van Sysprep. Je moet de versie van Sysprep gebruiken die specifiek voor het OS en Service pack bedoeld is. 
De Sysprep file is nodig als je Templates wilt deployen of een Windows Guest OS wilt clonen.

Waar staat de afkorting ESX voor....

Je altijd al afgevraagd wat de betekenis van ESX (Vmware server) voor staat.
ESX staat voor 'Elastic Sky X'. Deze naam is tijdens de ontwikkeling van het product aan het  project gegeven.

De afkorting GSX staat voor 'Ground Storm X'.

Update 01 april 2009

Laatst bezig geweest met het patchen van een ESX omgeving met de 'laatste' VMware ESX patches.
Ook patch nummer: ESX350-200901401-SG.

Als eerst een tweetal ESX hosten bijgewerkt, alles was ok. ESX hosten werkten naar behoren, de VM's die op deze Host actief zijn funtioneren probleemloos, VCB backup werkt en geen problemen met de VMware Tools. 
Daarna stap voor stap de rest bijgewerkt.  (z'n 25 ESX hosten bijgewerkt).

ESX 3.x Configuration Files /etc/nsswitch.conf
The service switch configuration, how names in the service console are resolved. There will be a number of lines in this file. The most interested is "hosts:" hosts: files dns The name service will use the /etc/hosts file, and then the DNS name server specified in the /etc/resolv.conf file.
